A New Fire Station Is Coming To FishHawk Ranch

Newland Communities has donated 2 acres of land located on the south side of FishHawk Boulevard between Mosaic Drive and Bell Shoals Road. On this site, Hillsborough County Fire Rescue is planning to build fire station No. 44. The fire station will serve the FishHawk area as well as the surrounding Riverview area communities located near, or off Boyette Road and Bell Shoals Roads.

The plan is for a three-bay fire station that would house a crew of five to six personnel each shift, a fire engine, and a rescue unit. While the new fire station is being constructed Hillsborough County Fire Rescue is proposing setting up a temporary fire station at the FishHawk Sports Complex.

Originally the plans were to house a fire station within the FishHawk Sports Complex but the new location is more centrally located and will serve the FishHawk community and surrounding area better. The new location will have direct access to FishHawk Boulevard. The site within the FishHawk Sports complex did not.

The Hillsborough County Commissioners approved the $3.4 million in funding for the design and construction of FishHawk Fire Station No. 44. It also gave the green light to some additional minor changes, including an additional access point to be used by the station with no regional impact.

Once construction of the new fire station begins it is anticipated that it will take around eight months to complete. They are shooting for a completion date in 2017.
