The Hillsborough County Public Schools district serves approximately 200,000 students throughout 250 schools. It is currently the third-largest school district in Florida and the eighth-largest school district in the United States.
Some of Hillsborough County’s high schools rank among the best schools across the state and the entire nation. These top-performing schools include Plant High School, Robinson High School, and Newsome High School. Hillsborough County is also home to some of Florida’s well-regarded colleges and universities, including the University of South Florida, Hillsborough Community College, and the University of Tampa.

One of the Top Rated School Zones in the Tampa Area (FishHawk Area Schools, Lithia, Florida)
If you are a potential home buyer in the Tampa Bay area and A-rated schools are at the top of your requirements, consider adding FishHawk Ranch, FishHawk Ranch West, Fish Hawk Trails, Riverhills, and Channing Park to your home search. All of these communities currently have all levels of schools with A-ratings. The FishHawk area schools are some of the highest-rated schools in the Tampa Bay area and Florida. This school zone is one of the few zones in the area with elementary, middle, and high schools, all with A-ratings.
The A-rated FishHawk schools are one of the primary motivating factors that bring new residents into the area. All of the schools are located within the FishHawk area borders; therefore, it is convenient for dropping off and picking up the students.
Bevis Elementary and FishHawk Creek Elementary are both located in Phase II of FishHawk Ranch. Stowers Elementary and Barrington Middle are located within FishHawk Ranch West. Randall Middle School and Newsome High School are next to each other and are located just off FishHawk Blvd.
A quick example of one of the schools is Bevis Elementary. It is consistently one of the top-rated schools in the state, serves an estimated 804 students, has a student-teacher ratio of 14:1, and has been awarded Blue Ribbon status, Reading Teacher of the Year, ESE Teacher of the Year, Math Teacher of the Year, and been consistently awarded Top Performer status for Florida’s FCAT examinations.
They are all recognized state-wide for their academics, music programs, and excellence in physical fitness or athletics. Newsome High School’s marching band recently participated in Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City. Newsome also recently received a Hillsborough County award for having an Elite Athletic Program.

Home to the Best Schools in Hillsborough County, Florida
FishHawk Ranch is home to some of the best schools in Tampa Bay as well as the best schools in Hillsborough County. As far as top schools in Tampa are concerned, Bevis Elementary school was recently ranked the number 1 elementary school in Hillsborough County (these rankings could change, so if it is important to you, please look up the current rankings).
If great schools are an essential part of your home search, it is tough to beat the FishHawk schools. There are not too many school zones in the Tampa Bay area, with the Elementary, Middle, and High Schools all earning A-ratings.
FishHawk residents are lucky to have six of the most sought-after schools in the state of Florida right in the FishHawk community. Again, all of these public schools are A-rated by the state of Florida.
With most schools located either inside or within 2 1/2 miles of the FishHawk Ranch community, many school children in FishHawk Ranch walk or ride their bikes to school.
